Emergencies | Energies Direct
If You Have an Energy Emergency
At Energies Direct, your safety is our top priority. We’re an independent energy broker, which means we don’t supply electricity or gas directly, and we can’t respond to emergency situations.
However, if you experience an issue such as a gas leak, power cut, or suspected danger, we’ll help you find the right contact details so you can get immediate assistance.
Gas Emergency – Call 0800 111 999 (24 hours)
If you smell gas or suspect a gas leak, take these steps immediately:
- Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 (This line is free and available 24 hours a day.)
- Do not smoke or use naked flames.
- Do not touch electrical switches.
- Open doors and windows to ventilate the area.
- Turn off the gas supply at the meter, if safe to do so.
- Leave the property and wait for the engineer to arrive.
Electricity Power Cut or Electrical Emergency
If you have a power cut, contact your local electricity Distribution Network Operator (DNO) — not your energy broker or supplier.
You can call the national helpline: 105 (free from any phone).
They can:
- Tell you if there’s a power cut in your area.
- Provide estimated restoration times.
- Handle dangerous situations, such as fallen power lines.
You can also find your local DNO at www.powercut105.com.
If You Believe There’s Immediate Danger
If you think there’s a risk of injury, fire, or serious damage:
- Call 999 and ask for the Fire Service or appropriate emergency service.
- Move to a safe location.
- Do not attempt to repair or tamper with electrical or gas equipment.
What Energies Direct Can Do
Although we can’t handle emergencies directly, we can:
- Help identify your current energy supplier if you’re unsure who they are.
- Explain what steps to take after an emergency.
- Support you in contacting your supplier once the situation is under control.
- Assist with contract or billing questions that may arise later.
